Recertification Requirements

USA Triathlon’s coach recertification process consists of completing specified requirements (outlined below) as well as submitting a recertification application.

  • Purchase $195 Recertification Application

  • Renew NCSI Background Check

  • Renew Annual SafeSport Training

  • Renew CPR, AED and First Aid Certification

  • 12 Total CEUs (8 USAT CEUs Required)

Recertification General FAQ

  • How does recertification work?

    USA Triathlon Coaching Certification is valid for two (2) years. In order to maintain your USA Triathlon Coaching Certification, you must recertify at the end of that two-year time frame. The recertification process consists of completing the specified recertification requirements and then purchasing the recertification application, uploading the recertification requirements in the recertification application then submitting your recertification application for staff to review. Upon staff approval of your recertification application, you will be recertified.

  • How much does recertification cost?

    The recertification application costs $195 and each of the recertification requirements have various costs. Beginning January 1, 2021, a two year membership is automatically included in recertification as part of the $195 fee.

  • Can I get an extension on my recertification deadline?

    Recertification extensions are not given.

  • What is late recertification?

    Coaches who do not complete the recertification process by their expiration date will have their USA Triathlon Coach Certification revoked. Coaches can get their USA Triathlon Coach Certification reinstated by adhering to the Late Recertification Policy.

Recertification Purchase FAQ

  • What happens after I submit my recertification application?

    After your recertification application is submitted, it will be considered "pending" so staff can review your recertification documents submitted. If staff reviews your recertification application and it meets the requirements, it will be approved and you will be notified by email. If it is rejected due to incomplete recertification requirements, you will be notified by email.

  • How long does staff review take?

    Approximately 4-6 weeks after your recertification application is submitted.

  • Can my recertification application be refunded?

    No, recertification application purchases cannot be refunded.
