David Winton

David Winton was named head coach of the Drury women’s triathlon program on Feb. 4, 2021, and will enter his second year leading the team this winter. Winton comes to Drury from the University of San Francisco, where he served as an assistant coach for women’s triathlon last fall. Prior to that assignment, Winton was the director of the Breakaway Performance program at The Bay Club Company in San Francisco, CA, from 2013-2018. The Bay Club Company is a fitness company and triathlon club in the San Francisco area, Winton has also been an active competitor in triathlon, competing as a member of Ohio State's team from 2018-2020. He was a triathlon All-American and Ironman All-World Athlete at the Gold level (the top 1%) from 2014-17. He competed in the 2016 Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, and the 2016 70.3 World Championship at Sunshine Coast, Australia. Winton earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Ohio University in Exercise Physiology in 2011. He also has a Master's Degree in Sports Coaching from the Ohio State University. Along with his two degrees, David Winton also is a NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a USA triathlon level 2E Coach.
