ABOUT BECOMING A USA TRIATHLON CERTIFIED COACH

USA Triathlon’s Associate Level Online Coach Certification Course is designed to equip an entry-level coach with the basic tools needed to become capable and qualified. Ideally, an Associate Certified Coach should work under the direction of a USA Triathlon Level I or higher certified coach. Some of the positions an Associate Certified Coach may hold include, but are not limited to, assistant coach, aspiring coach, volunteer coach, or parent assistant on a youth & junior or high school team.

USA Triathlon’s Level I Coach Certification Program is designed to educate aspiring coaches on how to train their athletes on different aspects of triathlon.

Coaches will learn how to design a training plan geared toward their athlete’s needs as well as learn strength specific training for triathletes and key workouts. In addition to learning how to cater to your athletes needs, coaches will also learn the mechanics and skills of swimming, cycling and running from some of USA Triathlon’s most esteemed coaches.

Coaches will not just learn how to train their athletes physically but they will also learn about nutrition periodization and mental skills, two vital aspects to master in the sport of triathlon.

WHAT COACHES ARE SAYING

“Prior to this clinic, I had no experience with paratriathlon. My goal was to expand my coaching skillset so I could be more well-rounded and useful to both USAT and the sport. What I got was a life-changing, career sparking experience. The format of 2 classroom days followed by 2 practical days running a camp gave me the tools and confidence to immediately seek out athletes to coach. This was one of the most impactful and effective continuing education investments I've made in my 10 year coaching career. The instructors are world class, expert coaches and some of the most decent human beings I've ever met. I highly encourage anyone seeking to expand their coaching horizons to make this priority #1 on your calendar.”
