⚠️ Before you begin: Please verify that your certification is expired in the USA Triathlon Membership Hub. This application is for coaches who have missed their recertification deadline.

We're glad you're here to restore your USA Triathlon Coach Certification. Whether life got busy or circumstances changed, it's never too late to get back on track with your coaching credentials.
This application allows you to recertify after your expiration date. A $50 late fee is included in the application price. We'll work with you to complete all requirements and restore your certification status, including coach insurance coverage and all the benefits of USAT certification.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
Complete a total of 12 CEUs to maintain your certification and stay current with coaching best practices. CEUs must be from the last 2 years, calculated from the date you purchase this late recertification application. You cannot use CEUs that are more than 2 years old.

Background Check
NCSI Background Check
USA Triathlon Certified Coaches must maintain a current "Green Light (Clear)" background check at all times. Background checks are performed by the National Center for Safety Initiatives (NCSI).

SafeSport Training
Annual SafeSport Training
SafeSport Training is required annually and is only valid for one year. Your SafeSport Training must be kept current at all times to maintain your coach certification and insurance coverage.

You can verify your certification status in the USA Triathlon Membership Hub. Here's how:
- Login to your account at member.usatriathlon.org
- Click on "Settings" in the navigation menu
- Select "Certifications" from the settings options
- This page will display your Coach Level certification with start and end dates, as well as your SafeSport and NCSI Background Check status

The approval process typically takes 4 to 6 weeks, though our education team works diligently to process applications as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience as we review your materials.

What happens if my certification has expired?

If your certification has expired, you are temporarily not a USA Triathlon Certified Coach, which means you lose access to coach insurance coverage and the benefits of USAT certification. But it's never too late! Purchase this Late Recertification Application and we will work with you to complete all requirements and restore your certification status.

How much does late recertification cost?

The late recertification fee is $145 total ($95 standard recertification fee + $50 late fee). The late fee applies because you are purchasing after your recertification window has closed. Please note this fee does not include a USA Triathlon membership, which must be maintained separately.

What types of courses count toward my USAT CEUs?

To renew your coaching certification, you must complete a minimum of 8 USAT-approved CEUs. These are paid courses exclusively available through our Triathlon Learning platform. The courses cover essential topics including coaching methodology, sport science, nutrition, injury prevention, and more. Please note that only courses taken through Triathlon Learning will qualify as USAT CEUs. Browse the full catalog to find courses that align with your interests and coaching development goals.
Price Option
Coaching recertification does not include a USA Triathlon membership. Please purchase or renew your annual membership directly through your Membership Hub.
